Biography

Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and grew up there. He also still trains there in between his fights. Diego was a wrestling State Champion in high school and started training in mixed martial arts shortly thereafter. It was around that time that he started training under the world famous trainer, Greg Jackson who has also trained Georges St. Pierre, Holly Holm, and Jon Jones as well as many others. During this time Diego split his time between training and working for UPS.
   
Diego made his mixed martial arts debut in 2002 and went undefeated at 11-0 as an amateur. This would earn him a spot on the very first season of The Ultimate Fighter reality television show where he became middle weight champion thus earning himself his first contract with the UFC.
   
Sanchez has gone on to compile a record of twenty seven wins and ten losses in his professional UFC career. Most recently, his is 35 years old 5’10 155 pounds fights from a southpaw stance and has a 72 inch reach.
